MEDAN (News): The Indian government is facilitating the training of civil servants in North Sumatra under the “Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation” (ITEC) program.
Consul General of India in Medan Shubham Singh, in a statement received on Thursday evening (15/2/2024), said that the Indian government sent 15 officials from the North Sumatra government to participate in
training under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program (ITEC Program) in India.
These officers will undertake an intensive training program in Information Technology (IT) under the Certification Course in ICT General Iteration – I at the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), New Delhi, from 19 February 2024 to March 1, 2024.

These North come from different departments such as the Organization Office, the General Office, the Agency
North Sumatra Provincial Human Resources Development, Goods and Services Procurement Office, Legal Office, Economic Office, People's Welfare Office, Government and Regional Autonomy Office, and Administration Office.
The Indian Consulate General in Medan issued visas to these 15 officials on Thursday, February 15, 2024. These officials will visit India on February 18, 2024.
In another collaborative effort, 25 North Sumatra government officials will participate in an agricultural training program titled “Agri Tech Start-ups for Enhancing the Agri Value Chain” at the National Institute of Extension Management agricultural (MANAGE), in Hyderabad, India. April 2024.
Another group of 15 North Sumatra government officials will also undertake a comprehensive IT training program under the ICT General Iteration Certification Course at the Center for Advanced IT Development, New Delhi, India, in May 2024.
Singh said that India's Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program is the Government of India's Ministry of External Affairs' primary comprehensive funding platform for capacity building.
Launched in 1964, ITEC is one of the oldest international capacity building schemes which has trained more than 200,000 civil servants from over 160 countries in the civil and defense sectors.
“The ITEC program is open to anyone looking to build capacity, not limited to government officials,” Singh said.
This initiative not only strengthens the long-standing ties between India and Indonesia, but also commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Indo-Indonesian diplomatic establishment, highlighting the enduring spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two countries. (as)
