India: merry-go-round crashes to the ground at an amusement park and injures at least 16 people (video)

At least 16 people, including children, were injured and hospitalized after a carousel collapsed at an amusement park. The incident took place at the Dussehra fairground in Mohali, which is officially known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, in India’s Punjab region.

An amusement session at the amusement park nearly took a tragic turn on the night of Sunday to Monday August 5 after the carousel crashed. According to eyewitnesses, the ride’s spinning wheel, which circles the 15m-high tower, malfunctioned and fell to the ground with great force.

Images leaked to the web show a circular section on a standing pylon from a rotating swing that launches into the ground with a tremendous impact. People on the ride are seen being thrown violently into the air after the hard landing.

“Live visual of the seesaw being broken in #Mohali phase 8, many people are injured. About 16 women and children were hospitalized after the incident., an Indian journalist tweeted. The police were alerted and dispatched to the fair. An investigation has been opened to determine the real cause of the carousel’s breakdown. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

Indian TV personality Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted after the incident, calling it unacceptable. “The seesaw is spiraling downward sharply at the Dushera Phase 8 field in Mohali, Punjab. More than 16 were injured, including children. ” This is unacceptable. I hope the owner of the swing is arrested, ”he wrote.
