Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman and Chief Executive Mukesh Ambani said on Tuesday the country will see an unprecedented explosion of economic growth and opportunity as the Amrit Kaal unfolds.
He said the current year marks the start of Amrit Kaal in India, which is seen as the most promising time to start something new and expects the country to grow into a $40 trillion economy by 2047.
“As the Amrit Kaal unfolds, India will see an unprecedented explosion of economic growth and opportunity. From a $3 trillion economy, India will grow to a $40 trillion economy by 2047 and rank among the top three economies in the world in your working lives,” Ambani said while delivering his speech at the 10th convening ceremony of the Pandit Deendayal Energy University held (PDEU),Gandhinagar.
The term Amrit Kaal was mentioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 75th Independence Day speech in August 2021. Treasury Secretary earlier this year Nirmala Sitharaman also used the term when presenting the Union budget 2022-23.
Ambani, President of the Board of Governors of PEDU, said three game-changing revolutions – clean energy, bioenergy and digital technology – will drive India’s growth in the coming decades and transform lives in unimaginable ways.
“While the clean energy revolution and the bioenergy revolution will produce energy sustainably, the digital revolution will allow us to use energy efficiently,” he said, adding that these three revolutions together will help India and the world to save the planet from climate change save crisis.
Ambani addressed the students and challenged them to think big and be a bold dreamer.
He said they should also think green as the clean energy movement is about adopting a green mindset.
“In your mission to transform India into a leader in clean energy, digitalization will play the role of a force multiplier. Technologies like AI, robotics and IoT are powerful enablers of change. Use them to your advantage,” he added.
On that occasion, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that India is on the cusp of a new transition and will experience a period of tremendous growth.
“I don’t just mean economic growth. There will definitely be economic growth. We will grow from $3 trillion, $5 trillion and $10 trillion to $25 trillion and $50 trillion economy. Our per capita income will grow from the current $2,800 and double and triple. We’re going to see a huge improvement in the quality of life,” he said.
He said the country’s role in the energy transition will be unique and much faster. Without India achieving the energy transition, the world will have a bigger sustainability problem, he noted.
