MOMENT India is working on the development of technology 6G locally developed.
India’s Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the 6G network is expected to launch in late 2023 or early 2024.
Speaking at a webinad hosted by the Financial Times and Indian Express, Vaishnaw said necessary clearances had been granted to scientists and engineers working on 6G technology.
“We are going to design Indian telecom software to run the network, telecom equipment made in India, featured in the Indian telecom network which can be global,” Ashwini said as quoted by the Indian Express on Thursday (25 /11/2021).
In addition to 6G, a rollout of 5G is also planned. For the development of 5G, software development of the technology will be completed in the third quarter of next year.
While the 5G spectrum auction is also expected to take place in the second quarter of calendar year 2022.
“References have been made to TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) for 5G spectrum auction. They have already started the consultation process,” he said.

The process is expected to be completed in February-March next year. Then, the auction process will be carried out in the second quarter of calendar year 2022.
