Australia Under-19 captain Hugh Weibgen was pleased with his team's performance on Sunday as Australia beat five-time champions Indiana to win the U19 World Cup trophy for the fourth time. In his post-match speech, Weibgen said he was very proud of his team. Weibgen also praised his bowler and teenager Harjas Singh, who scored the Australian team's best goal in the final.

Weibgen also had a fantastic day individually, scoring 48 runs from 68 balls. He also handled the fielding and bowling changes brilliantly as Australia emerged as the best team of the day.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Weibgen said: “It’s incredible. I am very proud of the group of players and coaches. A lot of work has been done in this direction over the past few months and over the past year, and I am very proud of it. We were batting first and our plan was to get as many runs on the board as possible and then come back to defend it.

Weibgen thanked batsman Harjas Singh, who scored his team's highest score of 55 runs in the final. Harjas had an average performance at the World Cup, but performed well when it mattered most.

“He is a high quality player. The forms are temporary, but the courses are permanent. All credit to the coaches for sticking with him. “All the players know he will get the job done,” Weibgen said.

On their rivals in the final, Weibgen said: “India are a class team. They dominate all the competition. They came from the wrong side today. I'm sure they have many quality players who will make a big contribution to their career.

Weibgen also praised the bowling. “As a unit, they work well together. They know their role and are ready to do both things,” he said.
