KL Rahul's brilliant unbeaten fifty gave India a major boost on the opening day of a tough IND vs SA first Test at Centurion on Tuesday.
On a dismal day for the Centurions, South African bowlers led by Kagiso Rabada took the honors and reduced India's score to 208/8 before rain forced the curtains to be closed early on the first day.
After the defeat, the Indian team started on a positive note with both openers – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma – starting well. However, Rohit's 'most prolific' shot led to his downfall as he ended up at 5th over.
Yashasvi played some stunning shots before falling on the 17th hole to debutant Nandre Burger.
Gill suffered a similar fate when he was defeated by Burger 2.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, despite some initial disappointments, managed to take India to 91/3.
While both teams shared the first session, India were beaten by Rabada in the second session.
While Shreyas Iyer was bowled by the low inside fielder, Virat Kohli was bowled by the almost unplayable outside fielder.
