In the old town – Indian festival: a huge chariot will be dragged through the streets – MadeinVilnius.lt

On Sunday in Vilnius in the Old Town there will be a colorful and impressive festival – Rathajatra (Sanskrit ratha yatra – chariot festival), which comes from India and has been held every summer in Lithuania for twenty years.

All residents and guests of the capital are invited to attend this grand event, which will see the famous lord of the universe, Jagannath, seated in a huge luminous chariot decorated with flowers. He would arrive at the town hall square at 12 p.m. and accompanied by cheerful music and dancers will move through the streets of the Old Town towards the cathedral and Kudirka square. There, the festive procession will be crowned with the unique concert “Pop Songs Mantras”, featuring Ieva Zasimauskaitė, the group Inkilai, Jake Emlyn and Same La Vie (guests from Great Britain), Išvari Prema, Šištakrit (Ukraine) and others.
