Badminton News: It was the day when several main players achieved their first victories in the Malaysia International Series which ended on Sunday (8/10).
The Loo Bing Kun/Cheng Su Yin pair won their first title after beating Indian representatives Satish Kumar/Aadya Variyath 21-18, 21-14 in the mixed doubles final in Sabah yesterday.
It was sweet revenge for the duo after losing to India in the final of the Maldives International Series in August.
It’s also a timely breakthrough for Bing Kun, 22, and Su Yin, 20, who were only matched in June.
Su Yin, who plays women’s doubles in senior competitions with her twin sister Su Hui, won a silver medal with Yap Roy King in mixed doubles at the Cambodia SEA Games in May.
Regarding her victory with Bing Kun, Su Yin said: “I am very happy to be able to win my first title with Bing Kun. We achieved our goal in this tournament and I hope we can achieve even more.
There was also joy for the men’s doubles duo of Fazriq Razif and Wong Vin Sean, who won their first senior international crown in the Malaysia International Series after beating teammates Chia Weijie/Liew Xun 21-14, 21 -16 in the final.
“I am happy and proud to be able to win this title,” Fazriq said.
“So far, Vin Sean and I have progressed quite well and this victory makes us want to do even better.”
