Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – American (US) and Indian troops have been conducting joint war games for the past two weeks. The exercise, called Yudh Abhyas, took place exactly 100 km from the Sino-Indian border in the Himalayan mountain region.
It should be noted that India and China disagree on the border in this region. The dispute had led to conflicts in 2020 and 2021.
“Military exercises like Yudh Abhyas reaffirm our commitment to the Indo-Pacific region,” the US Embassy in New Delhi was quoted as saying by South Asian media. ANI, cited Monday (5/12/2022).
“Elevating the defense partnership of India and the United States takes it to the next level,” he added.
Beijing media funnel, world times, wrote that this raises his own concerns. This is linked to the intentions of Washington and New Delhi.
“By choosing this time to conduct military exercises with India, not far from the China-India border, on the one hand Washington wants to strengthen military cooperation with India to embolden India to provoke the China more aggressively,” the media wrote.
“On the other hand, the United States deployed high-altitude technology in the exercise and tried to show its determination to support India by exporting more weapons and equipment to India” , he added.
Previously, India and China fought in the direction of real control (Real control line/LAKE). It divides areas of physical control, not territorial claims, and separates territory controlled by China and India from Ladakh in the west to the eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, which China says totally in control.
According to India, the Line of Control is 2,167 miles (3,488 km) long. While China says it’s much shorter.
The bloodiest tensions took place in June 2020. At that time, at least 24 soldiers were killed in violent clashes.
Indian authorities say 20 of his soldiers were killed. Meanwhile, China has confirmed four deaths.
