Badminton News: Indonesian coach of Malaysia’s men’s singles, Hendrawan hopes world number 42 Ng Tze Yong can maintain his momentum similar to how he played at the 2022 Commonwealth Games when he competed at the Badminton World Championships 2022 which will be held in Tokyo from August 21 to August 28.
“It’s normal for players to struggle, including Tze Yong, Zii Jia, myself and everyone else,” Hendrawan said.
Hendrawan said everyone would definitely start paying attention to Ng, but he also wanted everyone to give Ng enough time to grow and become one of the best men’s singles players in the world.
“And if he loses, don’t criticize him too much. Although Tze Yong has shown great improvement in recent months, he is still developing into a strong player,” Hendrawan added.
Ng Tze Yong was brilliant at the 2022 Commonwealth Games two weeks ago when he helped Malaysia win mixed team gold by beating India 3-1 in the final.
He also stunned world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore and world championship silver medalist Kidambi Srikanth of India en route to the men’s singles final before losing to Lakshya Sen of India. India and having to settle for a silver medal.
Ng Tze Yong qualified for the 2022 World Championship for the first time at the last minute due to the withdrawal of another player and he will open the competition against Indonesian Malaysia Masters 2022 champion Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
