Gross GST revenue collected in December rose 10% to ₹1,64,882 crore. Gross GST revenue increased by 12% to ₹14.97 lakh crore during April-December 2023 as against ₹13.40 lakh crore in the corresponding month of the previous year (April-December 2022).
The monthly average gross GST collection of ₹1.66 lakh crore in the first nine months of 2023 reflects an increase of 12% compared to the average of ₹1.49 lakh crore in the same period of FY23.
The GST revenue for December 2023 includes ₹30,443 Crore Central GST (CGST), ₹37,935 Crore State GST (SGST), ₹84,255 Crore IGST (including ₹41,534 Crore from import of goods) and cess of ₹12,249 Crore (which includes ₹1,079 crore from import of goods). December 2023 is the seventh month in which revenue crossed the sum of ₹1.60 lakh crore.
The government has also cleared ₹40,057 crore of CGST and ₹33,652 crore of SGST from IGST in December 2023. As per regular settlement, the total revenue of the Center and states in October 2023 stands at ₹70,501 crore for CGST and ₹71,587 crore for SGST.
During the month, revenue from domestic transactions, including import of services, recorded a 13% growth in revenue from these sources compared to the same period last year.
The sales for December 2023 show an increase of 10.3% compared to the GST sales in the corresponding month of the previous year. Moreover, revenue from domestic transactions, including import of services, shows a growth of 13% compared to that from the same sources in December last year, it said.
The post-comparison SGST data shared by the ministry shows that Maharashtra has seen a 13% increase in GST revenue till December 2023 compared to the same period last year. Gujarat and UP recorded growth of 10% and 13% respectively. Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal recorded growth of 10%, 11% and 7% respectively.
The state-level GST data collected in each state in December 2023 compared to December 2022 shows Maharashtra with a growth of 14%, Gujarat and UP with 7% and 12% growth respectively. Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal recorded growth of 16%, 19% and 10% respectively.
