Google launched a search function powered by artificial intelligence (AI) Generative for users in Japan and India. This feature was previously only available in the United States.
The new AI-powered search functionality, known as SGE (Search Generative Experience), will be available through Google Search Labs in these markets.
“We're bringing our experience in generative AI in search (GES) to more people, bringing Search Lab to India and Japan. We're also making it easier to find web pages that support information in previews powered by AI and sharing. an overview of what we've learned so far,” Google wrote in the post blogs-, quoted Friday (1/9).
With global expansion, SGE will be adjusted for newly supported regions. In Japan, for example, users will be able to use generative AI in their local language.
Meanwhile, in India, SGE will support English and Hindi with language switching so users can switch between the two.
Google also added voice typing, so users can ask questions instead of typing them and then listen to the answers. Along with this launch, SGE is introducing new features designed to make it easier for users to find and visit web pages that support the information offered in AI responses, citing Technological crisis.
According to Google, this AI generative search helps people explore multiple perspectives and serves as a starting point for exploring web content.
Recently, Google said it was experimenting with easier ways for users to search and visit web pages that support information in AI-powered previews.
“During testing, we learned that people find it easier and more understandable when access to these links is presented in the overview itself,” Google said.
The US tech giant added that currently this feature is still an experiment and that it will continue to test different ways of presenting results and listening to feedback, while prioritizing approaches that may drive traffic to relevant websites.
