Google announces major updates for Gemini AI chatbot, app still not available in these two key regions

Google Gemini AI Chatbot just received some major updates. The company announced that its app is now going “global,” but it's still not available in two key regions and offers more languages. Extended language support is also rolling out for the Extension functionality.

The Gemini app is available in over 150 countries for both Android devices and iPhones.However, two notable absentees are the EU and the British territories. According to Google, it will “expand to more languages, countries, and territories in accordance with local regulations and our AI principles.”

Extensions are available in more languages

Another feature that supports more languages ​​is extensions. This means users can now access real-time information from Google apps and services such as YouTube, Maps, Flights and Hotels in more than 40 new languages ​​where Gemini is available.
“With Gmail, Docs and Drive extensions, you can even easily find, summarize and get answers, even from your personal content. You control your privacy settings when you decide how you want to use the extensions,” the company said.
Additionally, users can type “@gemini” into Chrome’s address bar, followed by the prompt they want answers for. Chrome will then launch Gemini with a response to the entered text.
