Veteran entertainer and producer Pratap Pothen died on Friday, July 15. According to reports, the 69-year-old was tracked down dead in his condo at Chennai’s Kilpauk. Sympathies poured in from all quarters as individuals from the film crew and fans grieved his demise. Pratap, who started his acting vocation in Malayalam film with the well known chief Bharathan, has acted in north of 100 motion pictures across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi entertainment worlds.
sharing a photograph of Pratap, Malayalam entertainer and producer Prithviraj Sukumaran expressed, “Find happiness in the hereafter uncle! I will miss you. #PrathapPothen.” Prithviraj has collaborated with Pratap for a few movies including the Lal Jose executive Ayalum Njanum Thammil, Kanal (2015), the 2017 thriller Ezra, and Mohanlal’s impending film Barroz, among others.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid his sympathies to Pratap Pothen, calling him an unconstrained and novel entertainer who adjusted to the changing methods of film. The CM said he had denoted his stamp as an artiste, producer and maker in south Indian film. Pratap was additionally associated with offering his ‘legitimate’ viewpoints on political and social subjects, the CM said.Actor Mohanlal who collaborated with Pratap for his first time at the helm Barroz and films like Thanmathra (2005), expressed, “Darling Prathap Pothan, a favored craftsman who demonstrated his ability in all fields connected with film including acting, screenplay, course and creation, has left us. Had a fellowship and closeness spreading over years with him. Condolences.Paying recognition for the entertainer, a tweet from 2D Entertainment, Kollywood entertainers Suriya and Jyotika’s home standard, read, “Find happiness in the hereafter Prathap sir – you will be associated with your cutting edge films areas of strength for and; we will miss your honest excitement and dynamic presence during our shoots.
