Fredy/Khalimatus open up opportunities for badminton at Chinese Para Asian Games

TIMEINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Indonesian mixed doubles pair Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah opened up opportunities after beating Indian representatives Kumar Nitesh/Murugensat in the Asian Para Games (APG) 2023 qualifying match at Binjiang Gymnasium, Hangzhou in China, on Friday.

Indonesian SL3 class mixed doubles Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah managed to suppress the resistance of Kumar Nitesh/Murugensat in two straight sets with a score of 21-17 and 21-13.

In the first set, Fredy/Khalimatus immediately seemed to pile on the pressure by performing smashes and playing the ball in front of the net, while the Indian duo also put up stiff resistance, leading to a race for points. to end the first half with 21-17.

At the start of the second set, Fredy/Khalimatus attempted to take control of the game and continued to excel in collecting points until the match ended with a score of 21-13.

Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus have faced Indian doubles on several occasions and this was their first victory after losing when they met in Australia in rubber sets.

The Indian pair’s match results will then be used as evaluation material for the Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah pair to be more focused and consistent in the Group B qualifying round for APG Hangzhou China badminton.

“Our next match will probably be like this time, we have to stay focused and consistent. The key is trust and communication between us as a team,” he said.

In men’s singles SL3, Dwiyoko lost to Chinese athlete Chen Xiaoyu in three sets 21-18, 16-21. and 14-21, mentioning the wind factor leading to the stands as evaluation material for developing strategies for the next match.

“The physical preparation has to be better because on the fifth pitch, there is wind blowing towards the stands, so it’s a bit difficult to control. Before, there were three consecutive smashes, so tomorrow against India, we will have to anticipate that,” Dwiyoko said after the match.

Meanwhile, according to the results of other matches, Agung Widodo, who appeared in Class WH1 of Group C, managed to beat Syrian athlete Issa Hasan with a score of 21-8 and 21-4.

Hikmat Ramdani, another Indonesian badminton player in the SL4 men’s singles class, managed to beat Muhammad Akhtar (Pakistan) with a score of 21-9 and 21-9. Meanwhile, in the men’s singles SL3, Ukun Rukaedi defeated Vary Sen (Cambodia) with a score of 21-10 21-5.

Indonesian NPC badminton player in the WH2 men’s singles class of Group C, Supriyadi managed to beat Mohammed Alameer (Iraq) with a score of 21-8 and 21-9 and Leani Ratri Oktila managed to win easily against Chanida of Thailand with a score of 21-9 and 21-6.
