AHMEDABAD, India, January 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ –AdaniEnterprises Limited (AEL), part of Adani’s diversified portfolio of companies, today signed an agreement to initiate a pilot project to develop a hydrogen fuel cell electric truck (FCET) for mining logistics and transport with AshokLeyland, India, and Ballard Power , Canada.

This collaboration marks the first hydrogen mining truck project in Asia. The pilot project will be led by AEL, a company specializing in the mining and development of green hydrogen projects for the supply, transportation and construction of hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Ballard, a leading manufacturer of PEM fuel cell motors, will supply FCmove fuel cell motors^TM for the hydrogen trucks and Ashok Leyland, one of the world’s largest bus manufacturers, will provide the vehicle platform and technical support. FCET launch in India is slated for 2023.

The Adani Group has previously announced that it plans to invest more than $50 billion over the next ten years in green hydrogen and related ecosystems, which corresponds to a capacity of up to 3 million tons of green hydrogen per year.
