India continues to call on industrialized countries to keep their promises on climate finance. The country argues that Western countries in general should do more because they have emitted a lot of greenhouse gases in their history. India aims to become carbon neutral by 2070.
Bearbuck in Khori village
In Khori, Baerbock learned about the work of a Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation-supported non-governmental organization affiliated with the SPD and the Catholic aid organization Misereor, which has long been involved with the topics of microfinance, sustainable energy, reforestation and women’s empowerment. On a farm, a solar-powered water pump irrigates mustard greens in a field.
At the entrance to the farm, project leader Sunder Lal read out the ministerial motto at the gate: Only by working together towards gender equality will the country become a developed country. If there is no equality between the sexes, one cannot claim to be a developed country. Baerbock reacted with enthusiasm – even against the backdrop of her feminist foreign policy concept.
