Fajar/Rian struggle to qualify for second round of Indian Open 2024

New Delhi: Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto had to work hard to earn a ticket to the second round of the 2024 Indian Open by defeating Malaysian representatives, Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee.

Fajar/Rian were forced into three games by Man/Tee to win 16-21, 21-15 and 21-13 in 66 minutes.

Fajar/Rian seemed to have difficulty overcoming the resistance of Man/Tee, who managed to lead 8-11 at the break. After the break, Fajar/Rian had cut the score to 15-16, but Man/Tee shot and won 16-21. In the second game, Fajar/Rian still struggled to reduce Man/Tee's resistance even though they led 11-9 at the break. After the break, Fajar/Rian were again haunted by a 17-15 score by Man/Tee, but gathered momentum to close out the victory 21-15.

In the third game, Fajar/Rian started to find their best form of play and shot to lead 11-2 over Man/Tee. After the break, Fajar/Rian couldn't let themselves be overtaken and managed to close the match with a 21-13 victory over Man/Tee.

In the next round, Fajar/Rian have the potential to meet their compatriots Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin. However, Leo/Daniel first faced resistance from the Danish representatives, Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Sogaard.
