MerahWhite.com – In Indonesian men's doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2024 Indian Open.
Fajar/Rian won rubber game against the Danish pair Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Sogaard, with a score of 21-15, 13-21 and 21-17 in the round of 16 of the India Open 2024. The match took place at KDJadhav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Sports . Complex, New Delhi, Thursday (18/1).
“Alhamdulillah, grateful to have achieved victory and injury free today. Honestly, personally, I don't play well, I tried but the feel of the shots is not good. “I hope tomorrow will be even better,” Fajar said, as quoted by BETWEENFriday (19/1).

The battle for points in the first match was fierce. Both partners are also pursuing each other. In fact, the scoreboard showed the same number several times at the start of the first match. Ultimately, Fajar/Rian managed to win the break.
After halftime, the Indonesian men's doubles looked more convincing and confident. This was proven by their domination which did not allow Kjaer/Sogaard to catch up. Fajar/Rian won the first match with a score of 21-15.
At the start of the second match, the battle for points resumed. However, the two Danes managed to win the second break and maintained their performance until they won the match with a score of 21-13 against Fajar/Rian.
The two pairs once again showed their strategy to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the BWF Super 750 tournament. Fajar/Rian, seeded sixth, seemed calmer during this last match.
The men's doubles, ranked sixth in the world, also had a big lead over Kjaer/Sogaard with a score of 17-11. Even though they were overwhelmed, when Fajar/Rian got a match point in the third game, the match ended with Fajar/Rian winning with a score of 21-17.
“In the first game we were able to control the game and our attacks were able to penetrate them. But from the second game, they started to change the way they played. They opposed the ball before and rolled. We weren't prepared to anticipate this. “In the third game they tried the same pattern but we already knew how to overcome it,” Rian explained.
It is certain that Fajar/Rian will meet the South Korean pair Kang Minhyuk/Seo Seungjae in the round of 16 of the 2024 Indian Open. (*)
