Failing to get on the podium, Marc Marquez admits to frustration

MotoGP News: Marc Marquez has finally made peace by ending India’s MotoGP podium drought. But falling at low speed frustrated him.

Third in Saturday’s Sprint, Márquez was trying to stay in touch with Ducati’s leading trio – Marco Bezzecchi, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin – when he went off the track before Turn 1 and then crashed.

Coming back to 16th, Marc Marquez moved up to 9th at the finish. But with Bagnaia out and Martin suffering dehydration issues late in the race, Marquez will be well placed for his first podium since Australia 2022.

“I’m a little frustrated because today’s podium was a real opportunity. “It was a real opportunity, but with a lot of risk and that’s what I did,” Márquez told MotoGP.com

“When you try but there are three runners [di depan] who is faster than you. Bezzecchi, Martin and Pecco. I took too many risks in this first round. I went a little wide in turn 1 and lost the front, I almost saved it, but it was impossible. »

“Then the most important thing is that I finish the race and do all the laps. “His speed to get on the podium makes me happy,” he added.

Marquez and Repsol Honda teammate Joan Mir looked competitive all weekend, why?

“This track is very similar to Austin, lots of stops and starts, first gear corners. We saw in Austin what Rins did. It’s not exactly the same here, but it’s very similar and around the corner [lambat] That way we didn’t have many problems. So let’s see if in Japan we can continue the same thing.

Next weekend’s Motegi round could also see Márquez finally confirm his plans for 2024, after weeks of uncertainty over whether he will finish his contract with Honda or make a sensational switch to Gresini Ducati.
