Jakarta: Indonesia has initiated data security discussions among G20 member countries, through the Digital Economy Working Group of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information on data security between countries, during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023, the Japanese government came up with the concept of free flow of data with trust or exchange of trust-based data. Budi said the concept was in line with the Indonesian proposal from the previous meeting.

“Japan offers the free flow of data with confidence. So the data flows freely, but we want to use it in the same way (based on) trust, because Japan is still ahead of several countries because they have value, like Asia and the Is,” he said.
