Meanwhile, Carol Zhao quickly resolved the case of Olivia Tjandramulia from Australia. The 187th racket in the WTA won in identical sets 6-1 and 63 short minutes of first round.
Zhao didn’t have to save once against the 120th player on the tour. She had five breaks on 12 occasions, taking advantage of her opponent’s inability to get ahead on her second serve. Tjandramulia only won three of the 13 points up for grabs while holding the second ball.
In the next round, Zhao will face the second seed, Varvara Gracheva of Moscow, ranked 80th in the world.
