After the match, England captain Knight apologized, saying “super extreme” weather conditions had contributed to the defeat.

India scored 428 in the first innings with four batsmen reaching fifty, while the only England player to pass fifty was Nat Sciver (59) in the first innings.
In response to India’s declaration of 186-6 in the second innings, England needed 478 runs to win. Deepti Sharma’s spin was too much for the visitors to bear. Deepti finished the match taking 9 wickets as England had no answer for the off-spinner.
