Badminton News: Indonesian women’s doubles pair ranked 12th in the world, Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti are set to give their best performance at the prestigious 2023 BWF World Championships next week.
Even though her performances are currently on the decline and have been knocked out of the world top 10, PP PBSI women’s doubles coach Eng Hian hopes that Apriyani/Fadia can stand up and not think too much about the opponents they will face because they have all already beaten.
“As long as they can play normally and bring out their best abilities, I hope Apri/Fadia can go further,” Didi, as he is known, said through a press release from PP. PBSI Public Relations, Thursday (8/17).
“He overcame all opponents. So there is no need to be afraid,” he added.
Apriyani/Fadia, who received a bye in the first round, will start the competition to face the winner between the Indian pair, Ashwini Bhat K / Shikha Gautam and the representatives of the Netherlands, Debora Jille/Cheryl Seinen in the second round.
If adopted, the 2022 Malaysian Open champion has the potential to meet South Korean second seed Baek Ha Na/Lee So Hee in the third round.
Apart from Apriyani/Fadia, the Indonesian women’s doubles also sent two other representatives to this year’s World Championships, namely pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto and 16th seed Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
Lanny/Rebka will start the tournament against German pair Stine Kuespert/Emma Moszczynski in the second round, while Febriana/Amalia who received a first-round bye will meet the winner between Hong’s Lui Lok Lok/Ng Wing Yung pair Kong and Margot Lambert / Anne Tran of France in the second round.
