The Central Vigilance Commission of India will host its annual “Vigilance Awareness Week” on October 31, 2022 to mark the 147th birthday of the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The week-long campaign, which aims to raise public awareness of the threats of corruption, is based on the theme “Corruption-free India for a developed nation”.
The Commission on August 16 presented its ongoing three-month campaign to promote vigilance and preventive action against corruption. As part of these initiatives, stakeholders, including ministries, organisations, departments and individuals, are being asked to make an “Integrity Pledge”, which can be accessed on CVC’s official website.
The e-commitment can be submitted either as a citizen or as an organization in three steps. The steps include registering by entering the essential details such as name, address and proof of identity, selecting the preferred language to read the pledge and finally submitting it. The six-point pledge aims to promote transparency, honesty and integrity among citizens to counter increasing instances of bribery and corruption.
The CVC e-Pledge is gaining traction as it has been signed by 227,152 organizations and 15,441,908 individuals. Various events are planned leading up to the last day of the campaign on November 15, including walkathons, marathons, street dramas, local camps and using social media to encourage wider participation etc. In addition, the Commission has proposed a variety of other outreach initiatives.
