Cows can also be taken to the cloud, here’s the story

Jakarta: Discussing digital transformation is synonymous with businesses going digital. This has a major influence on business development. Usually, the image of people in general is that of a company headquartered in an office building.

There is a unique story in the VMware Explore 2022 Singapore event to be held on November 15-16, 2022 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention & Expo. This story is about a cow that is taken into the cloud.

That’s right, they are dairy cows experiencing digital transformation. This story belongs to Vishwas Chitale, CEO/CTO of Chitale Dairy, a dairy company in Maharashtra, India.

This long-standing family business has taken advantage of technology from the start. Vishwas mentioned that his father had been using computers since 1984 and managed to grow the business in the business.

As technology advances and digital transformation trends evolve, he works closely with VMware to take the business to the next level.

“The goal of using the cloud is to provide greater scalability to our farmers,” he said on stage. “The concept of the cloud then emerged, and all the information on our dairy cows is accessible via the Internet.”

The information available to breeders today is quite comprehensive. From health conditions, types of food, nutritional status possessed. This data is shared daily and Vishwas says it increases productivity per head of livestock.

“VMware has really helped us. We have been successful in moving livestock management to computers and moving the process from manual to automatic. »

Vishwas said the VMware solution has successfully helped around 25 critical applications and around 200,000 cows to manage information, equipped with disaster recovery, a software-defined concept cybersecurity system.

“Without that kind of scalability, I don’t think we would be able to achieve the accomplishments that we are today,” he said. Every day, this data is transmitted daily to the farmers by SMS.

Through this initiative, Chitale says farmers can reduce the number of cows and land needed by up to 10 times, while increasing the average amount of milk produced.

Leveraging VMware solutions, they help approximately 50,000 farmers with determining genetics, breeding, field automation, livestock lifecycle management, and more.

The result of cloud cows is reduced land use, reaching more farmers and greening India. “Innovation is the key to survival,” he concluded.
