Dheva Anrimusthi won gold in badminton at the 2023 Asian Para Games.
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesia temporarily occupies fifth place in the Asian Paralympics medal table on Friday (10/27/2023) at 22:00 WIB after collecting 26 gold, 21 silver and 32 bronze.
Today, the Indonesian team managed to add 17 medals, including seven gold, four silver and six bronze. These brilliant feats were achieved by athletes from various sports including athletics, badminton, boccia, cycle racing, lawn bowls and swimming.
The sport of badminton contributed significantly by winning a total of four medals, including three gold medals and one silver medal. In the men’s singles category, Dheva Anrimusthi won a gold medal after defeating Malaysia’s representative, Liek Hou Cheah.
Apart from this, Dheva and Hafish Briliansyah also won a gold medal in the men’s doubles category after defeating Indian representatives Chirag Baretha and Raj Kumar. Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles category, Indonesian pair Khalimatus Sadiyah and Leani Ratri Oktila also won a gold medal after beating Indian representatives, Manasi Girishchandra Joshi and Thulasimathi Murugesan.
Brilliant achievements have also been made in the sport of cycle racing. Sri Sugiyanti and Nimal Magfiroh won the gold medal in number road racing women’s tandem. Nurfendi won a silver medal in the men’s tandem road race and Sufyan Saori won a bronze medal in the men’s road race in the C4-5 category.
With this extraordinary medal, Indonesia managed to exceed the previously set goal. The Indonesian contingent initially consisted of 130 athletes competing in the 2022 Asian Paralympics, aiming to win 19 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 23 bronze medals. Apart from that, they hope to finish in the top 10 in the final ranking.
Indonesia also ranks first compared to other ASEAN countries. Thailand is in seventh position with 25 gold, 22 silver and 49 bronze medals. Malaysia is in 11th position with 7 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals.
The Philippines is in 12th position, with 5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals. Singapore is ranked 17th with a collection of 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Vietnam occupies the 21st position with 1 gold medal, 8 silver and 6 bronze.
