The students of the Lycée Français International de Mumbai (LFIM) begin the 2022 – 2023 school year on Friday 2 September. On the morning of September 5, the director and the entire LFIM team invited parents to a typical French gathering: coffee and croissants!
A great opportunity for new parents to discover their children’s school from within and for everyone to get to know Bruno Le Brize, the new director of LFIM, who arrived at the end of August.
24 nationalities were represented in the LFIM lunchroom for this back-to-school coffee, a great morning for reunions and sharing between new and “old” parents.
The Director presented the LFIM and development strategy for the coming years.
137 students are currently enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12 and the goal is to reach 150 by the end of December 2022, a growth that is welcomed by parents.
LFIM’s goals for the future are centered on recognizing the bilingualism practiced in its founding and on opening the best universities in France and around the world to students. The main challenges for the coming years are:
- promotion of the French International Baccalaureate by offering the study of 2, 3 or 4 languages in addition to other general subjects,
- approval by AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) to teach from 5th to 3rd year,
- US International Part validation from CP to Terminale.
Monday, September 5th is also Teacher’s Day in India and to celebrate this rather special day, LFIM management offers parents the opportunity to enter their children’s classrooms to get an overview of their work environment and a brief greeting.
Lycée Français International de Mumbai, located in the heart of Mumbai in Lower Parel, is the only fully bilingual French-English school in the city. Founded in 1983, it is a private not-for-profit institution governed by Indian law, by agreement with AEFE up to grade 6. Students benefit from a unique bilingual curriculum, based on the French education system, globally recognized for its high academic standards, structured reasoning , and critical thinking. LFIM is also the only institution in the city that accepts children as young as 2 years old as part of the Very Small Section (TPS).
