Not to be outdone by China, these three countries also announced the presence of a news anchor equipped with AI technology.
Not to be outdone by China, Russia, India and Kuwait also announced the presence of a news anchor who provided artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Shortly after China introduced Ren Xiaorong in March, Russia introduced an artificial intelligence meteorologist named Snezhana Tumanova. The name Snezhana Tumanova is a combination of two Russian words meaning “snow” and “fog”.
Appearing in the Future Forecast program of the television channel Svoye TV, Snezhana Tumanova works with the support of three neural networks. The first network manages the virtual hosts themselves, the second network prepares the text, and the third network creates the graphic content. This weather forecast program is planned to be broadcast five times a day to periodically convey information about the changing weather.
Although these virtual anchors have the potential to revolutionize weather programming, Svoye TV management has made it clear that it has no intention of abandoning traditional programming featuring human presenters.
Meanwhile, in India, in early April, India’s national media group, India Today Group, also announced the presence of the first virtual AI newscaster. First appearing at India Today Conclave 2023, the news anchor named Sana is visualized as female and can speak multiple languages including the local language.
“She is smart, beautiful, young, tireless,” said Kallie Purie, vice-president of the India Today group, quoted by RFI.fr, during the Sana launch event attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sana’s performance can be seen on India Today group’s Aaj Tak news channel.
Not to be outdone, Kuwait News also joined the race for AI in media by launching a virtual news anchor named Fedha yesterday. According to Kuwait News, quoted on the Al Jazeera website, Fedha will be given the task of reading news from the online bulletin.
Fedha appeared on the Kuwait News site’s Twitter account as a woman with fair hair uncovered and wearing a black jacket and a white t-shirt.
“I’m Fedha, the first presenter in Kuwait to work with artificial intelligence at Kuwait News. What kind of news do you prefer? Let’s hear your opinion,” he said in classical Arabic.
According to Abdullah Boftain, Deputy Publishing and Website Editor Kuwait News, developing an AI bot as a newscaster is a step to test the potential of AI to deliver fresh content. and innovative.
He explained that Fedha was taken from an old popular name in the Kuwaiti language that refers to silver and metal. “We always considered silver and metallic robots, so we combined the two,” says Boftain.
Meanwhile, the appearance of the virtual presenter, who has blonde hair and light eyes, reflects the diversity of Kuwaiti society and expats in the oil-rich country, according to Boftain.
In the future, Fedha plans to adopt a Kuwaiti accent and broadcast news bulletins on the Kuwait News Twitter account.
