centralnews|Medan~The Consul General of India in Medan hosted the 74th Indian Republic Day event which was held with a variety of culinary delights and yoga dances unique to the country.
Consul General of India in Medan Subham Singh and his wife joyfully welcomed their guests during the Republic Day celebration of India at JW Marriott Hotel Medan on Thursday (1/26) evening.
Present there, the Governor of North Sumatra was represented by Assistant I Pemprovsu Basarin Yunus Tanjung, Aceh Fighter Figure Tgk Malik Mahmud, Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative of North Sumatra Doddy Zulverdi , Consul General of the United States for Sumatra Gordon S Church, Consul General of Malaysia in Medan Aiyub Omar, Honorary Consul of East Timor in Medan Irwansyah, Consuls of other friendly countries and business personalities of this region.
Indian Consul General Subham Singh has declared that Republic Day is a national holiday in India which is celebrated on January 26. Even though India became independent on August 15, 1947, its constitution was not ratified until January 26, 1950. Until that anniversary, the ruler of Britain was still called the Emperor of India. In the constitution, India took the form of a republic.
This commemoration is at the same time a relationship between the governments of India and Indonesia. “Relations between the two countries are going quite well,” Singh said.
The Governor of North Sumatra, represented by Assistant Provincial Government I Basarin Yunus Tanjung, said Indonesia’s relationship with India has many similarities. The population of both countries is also the same, which is quite significant.
“Celebrating India’s Republic Day is also a way to establish friendship between the two countries,” he said.
He called North Sumatra a miniature Indonesia due to its heterogeneous population. “North Sumatra also has many interesting tourist objects,” he said.
Indian culinary delights have become a special treat for those present.
There is Tiranga salad, Makke Ka soup (corn soup), narangi Burf ka Gola (orange ice cream scoop), Lucknow kebab, Dilli ka butter chicken, Sabudance Ki kheer with a twist and the Chai Aur cafe.
