Badminton News: Rising Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin managed to move up two places to 21st in the world in the latest ranking released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Wednesday (7/20) local night time.
After missing the Malaysia Masters and Malaysia Open earlier this month for fitness reasons, Leo/Daniel made his return to the Singapore Open last week. Not wasting the opportunity, the former Junior World Champion immediately claimed his first Super 500 title beating Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final which moved them up to 21st in the world with 57,637 points.
Apart from the Singapore Open, Leo/Daniel also won the 2021 Sea Games Championship last May which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the top ranking in the men’s doubles sector is still held by the best Red and White pair, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon with 111,857 points, while the 2nd place in the world belongs to the Japanese world champion, Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi. with 107,650 points.
The pair of Indonesian veterans, Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan, still stagnates in 3rd position in the world with 104,195 points, while the Tokyo 2022 Olympic champion from Taiwan, Lee Yang / Wang Chi Lin is ranked 4th in the world with 101,668 points.
The top 10 places are completed by Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto with 86,855 points, Aaron Chia Hsin / Soh Wooi Yik from Malaysia with 85,028 points, Takeshi Kamura / Keigo Sonoda from Japan with 84,503 points, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty from India with 80,016, Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark with 78,619 points, and Ong Yew Sin / Teo Ee Yi of Malaysia with 72,490 points.
