Badminton News: 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist from India, Lakshya Sen moved up a spot to a career-high eighth position in the latest version of the BWF Men’s Singles World Rankings.
Men’s doubles duo MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila also moved closer to the top 20 by jumping two places to the 21st highest position in the list released on Tuesday (11/10).
Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remains sixth in the women’s singles standings while Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are eighth in the men’s doubles.
Lakshya Sen, 21, who has already won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships, was in fine form, starting the year with a gold medal at the Yonex Sunrise India Open before finishing second in the prestigious All England Championship as well than the German Open 2022.
He was also a key member of India’s historic Thomas Cup triumph after 73 years which took place in Bangkok Thailand.
Two players in fine form, Arjun and Dhruv, on the other hand, are steadily moving up the rankings after starting the year in 42nd place.
Arjun and Dhruv, who recently won the India Maharashtra International Challenge 2022 title, are known to cause a stir. One such upset came at this year’s BWF World Championships, where they needed just 40 minutes to stun Danish world number 8 pair Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen.
