Badminton News: Indian Commonwealth Games 2022 champion, Lakshya Sen jumped two places on Tuesday night (8/11) to achieve a career-best position 6 in the world in the latest world rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) .
Almora’s 21-year-old Lakshya Sen has been in sensational form this season, racking up 76,424 points in 25 tournaments played this season.
Meanwhile, last month’s 2022 French Open champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also moved up a spot to a career-best seventh place in the men’s doubles standings.
The Indian pair have won two BWF World Tour titles, namely the Indian Open super 500 and the French Open super 750, winning gold at the Birmingham Games in addition to securing the First-ever bronze at the 2022 World Championships. They also played a key role in India’s Thomas Cup victory.
Women’s doubles duo Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand and mixed doubles Ishaan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto also advanced to their career rankings of 23rd and 28th respectively in the world.
While Treesa and Gayatri jumped five places, Tanisha and Ishaan climbed two places in the latest chart listing.
Two Olympic medalists, PV Sindhu, who has not played in a tournament since the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham due to an ankle injury, also moved up a spot to fifth in the world.
Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy remain static at No. 11 and No. 12 respectively.
