Badminton News: Two-time Japanese world champion Kento Momota continues to show decline this season. More recently, the 28-year-old was expected to be set to drop two places to No. 9 in the latest ranking released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) this week.
After failing miserably in two home tournaments, namely the 2022 World Championship and the Japan Open the following week, Kento Momota had to drop a lot of valuable points which saw him drop to 9th place in the world with 72,304 points.
Meanwhile, Denmark’s world and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen’s rival is still strong in the world number 1 with 122,606 points, while his compatriot, Anders Antonsen managed to achieve a career-best ranking at number 2 in the world with 92,600 points.
Asian champion 2022 from Malaysia, Lee ZIi Jia is still in 3rd place in the world with 91,578 points, while Chou Tien Chen from Taiwan is in the top 4 in the world with 89,576 points.
Former Singaporean world champion Loh Kean Yew trailed in 5th place in the world with 81,594 points, while Indonesia prop Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was ranked 6th in the world with 77,599 points.
Indonesia’s former Asian Games champion, Jonatan Christie with 76-912 points, Indian Commonwealth Games 2022 champion, Lakshya Sen with 75,574 points, and a young rising player from Thailand, Kunlavut Vitidsarn with achievement 70,849 points.
