Business news, strategy, finance and business insights

We’re all aware of the business acumen of Gujarati executives, and one of the rising stars of the bunch is Gulab Oils Director – Dishit Nathwani. The premium cooking oil brand as we know it was founded in 1966 by first generation leader Shri Mukesh Nathwani. The aim was to provide customers with edible oils in their purest form. This honesty and transparency of the company was highly appreciated by the people, so today it is an inseparable part of millions of kitchens in all regions.

The brand enjoyed conventional growth until second-generation leader Dishit Nathwani took over. With his visionary leadership and modern approach, Gulab Oils has carved out multiple growth platforms and is growing exponentially. The company moved from a one-focus strategy to cultivating all cooking oils in the kitty, eventually becoming a multi-oil brand. Today, the brand enjoys strong demand for sunflower oil, cottonseed oil, mustard oil and other varieties of natural and refined oils, in addition to its flagship peanut oil.

Dishit has also diversified into other categories such as cold-pressed oils and organic food products as part of its vision. Gulab Goodness, a cold-pressed oil brand, extracts cooking oil from traditional Indian Ghani and offers peanut oil, mustard oil, extra virgin coconut oil, coconut oil and sesame oil as pure cooking oils. On the other hand, True Story offers certified organic foods such as grains, legumes, rice, flour, and sugar. Such launches truly make Gulab Group a holistic FMCG player and Dishit a true 21st century entrepreneur who solves lifestyle challenges through its products.

Under his leadership mother brand has also recently changed its ancient look and introduced new packaging to appeal to a younger audience. This is part of their strategy to bring the brand to global customers. The group’s aggression and hunger for growth has certainly increased with the entry of this second generation young savage. They are now targeting a production capacity of 1000 tons per day to meet demand in growing markets. At the same time, the group is also expanding its national presence through its in-house e-commerce platform called ShopGulab.

When asked for his opinion, Dishit said: “We don’t use food, we consume it and therefore it should be in its most natural form. My mission with my brands is to improve people’s lifestyles by providing clean and healthy products.” As the champion tennis player that he is, this young champion is sure to win games on and off the court.
