When the incident occurred on the flight, the crew complained to ATC that the defendant was under the influence of alcohol and peed on a fellow passenger’s blanket. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel arrested him as soon as the plane landed in Delhi but let him go after a “mutual compromise” when he wrote an apology to the woman. In this case, the woman is said to have refused to file a lawsuit against the accused, after which he was allowed to leave the airport.
The incident came a day after it was reported that a drunk man urinated on a fellow passenger in business class on a flight from New York to Delhi on November 26, 2022. and thus committed a criminal offence, allegedly no immediate action was taken against the accused. However, weeks after the incident, Air India filed a complaint against the accused and also formed a committee to investigate the matter.
The victim’s wife, who is in her 70s, also claims to have written a letter to the Tata Sons boss describing her ordeal and the poor handling of the incident by Air India staff, prompting the airline to form a committee to investigate to investigate the matter.
Air India’s internal committee has, for the time being, proposed placing the accused on a “no-fly list” for the next 30 days or until the final decision in the case. The aviation authority has also requested an action report from the Tata-owned airline.
Recently, a video of some Indian passengers getting into a scuffle on a Thai Smile Airway flight also went viral on social media. The fight broke out after a passenger refused to adjust his seat to an upright position as part of flight safety protocol. Although the crew repeatedly asked the passenger to adjust his seat, he refused. Another passenger then got into an argument with him, which later led to a major scuffle. Five to six passengers were seen in the video beating the said passenger after verbally spitting.
