The government and UT related data shows that Maharashtra collected the highest corporate income tax in FY22 at ₹2.85,132.25 billion, followed by Delhi at ₹10,5751.38 crore and Karnataka at ₹79,755.88 crore. Among the larger states, the corporate income tax levied by Tamil Nadu in FY22 was £44,255.8 million; Gujarat at ₹34,059.93 crore; and Andhra Pradesh ₹25,772.11 crore.

On the GST compensation funds to be paid to the states, the minister explained that taking into account £1.10 billion for the 2020-21 financial year and £1.59 billion for the 2021-22 financial year to the states /UTs were released as back-to-back loans In lieu of GST Fee, all GST Fee Fees were paid by them by May 31, 2022. “This decision was taken despite the fact that only around 25,000 crore was available in the GST compensation fund. The remainder was approximately ₹62,000 crore released by the center from its own funds pending collection of the levy,” he clarified.

As for the percentage of taxes and surcharges on the gross tax revenue of the center in the last three years, the Treasury said the government generated gross tax revenues of 25.16 billion in FY2021-22. The percentage of taxes and surcharges on the gross tax revenue was 28 .1%, up from 25.1% in 2020-21 when the center generated tax revenue of 20.27 lakhcrore. In fiscal year 2020, the percentage of duties and surcharges of the total tax revenue of ₹20.10 lakh crore was 18.2%.
