BP3IP graduates must master shipping technology

Not to be outdone, the Transportation Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDMP) has required graduates of the Jakarta Refreshment and Improvement of Shipping Sciences Center (BP3IP) to master maritime technology. This must also be done so that they can be absorbed into the world of work.


This was revealed by BPSDMP Chief Djoko Sasono during the inauguration ceremony of 144 level II, III and IV nautical and technical expert sailors, also attended by BPSDMP Secretary Captain A Arif Priadi, shipping manager. Human Resource Development Center (PPSDMPL)), BPSDMP, Amiruddin, Head of High School of Shipping Science (STIP) Jakarta, Capt Sudiono, and Head of Tanjung Priok OP, Capt Wisnu Handoko.


According to Djoko, with the development of this technology, he emphasized the importance for graduates of the BP3IP Jakarta Seaman training program to be able to master the latest technologies. In addition, it has an international vision to help achieve green and sustainable shipping in the future.


“I believe that after entering the world of work, graduates can become individuals who have the necessary skills, are able to perform tasks on ships and solve problems in a solid and reliable manner in accordance with cultural values of the Indonesian nation, which is a maritime nation,โ€ Djoko said.


He also added that geographically, Indonesia’s location surrounded by the sea known as the archipelago makes maritime activities such as inter-island shipping play an important role in building a system of global relationships that intertwine between one region and another. So, this is what makes Indonesia has the potential to become the maritime axis of the world.


“Now is the time to restore Indonesia’s maritime glory through superior seafarers who are professional, have integrity and can compete internationally,” Djoko said.


Moreover, at the end of the speech, the Head of the BPSDMP once again focused on the sailors who had just been appointed today. “You have been appointed with great skill, educated and trained to international standards, so you must be prepared to work hard. Indonesia has been extraordinary in building this nation and sailors have played a big part in it,” did he declare.


Djoko explained that during the pandemic, Indonesia’s economic growth increased by 6.6%. This means that exports are much higher than imports and extraordinary investments, exports and imports related to the transport of goods, this is where seafarers play an important role in the progress of the Indonesian economy.


Where currently, Indonesia is among the 7 global giants along with China, America, India, Germany, Japan and Russia. And in 2045, Indonesia should become the 4th giant in the world with China, America and India.


“Achieving Indonesia as one of the 4 giants of the world is not impossible. One of the driving factors is the development of Indonesian maritime affairs, where seafarers are at the heart of everything. Keep honing your skills, improve the skills you already have, master technology and make technology a tool to improve the quality of your work and don’t be complacent,โ€ he said.


On the same occasion, Director of BP3IP Jakarta, Ahmad explained, the release of the 51st Transport Officer took place at Bintang Field BP3IP Jakarta with the theme “Supporting the development and capacity building of human resources for the adoption of new technologies, for Grenner Shipping”. The theme is part of the commemoration of World Maritime Day 2022 which supports the transition of the maritime sector towards a greener and more sustainable maritime future.


“The establishment of maritime education institutions in Indonesia is nothing new, BP3IP Jakarta itself started its activities in the world of maritime education since 1949 under the name of Her Harlings Cursus and has not ceased to develop so far to produce reliable maritime officers,” he said. .


Ahmad also stressed that his party will continue to make efforts to show that the sailors who were trained at BP3IP Jakarta were accomplished sailors and that accomplished and tough sailors are not born from calm seas, but from seas with big waves. and storms.
