World leaders have started arriving in Hiroshima, Japan for the G7 summit. One of the main programs on G7 Summit was the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Reported by AP, Thursday (5/18/2023), Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida plans to hold a separate meeting with US President Joe Biden, who arrives at a nearby military base. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will meet at a later date, ahead of a summit on Friday.
Upon arriving in Hiroshima, US President Joe Biden departed Air Force One in the pouring rain. Then he saluted the troops as he arrived near Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.
It is known, when the participant G-7 towards Hiroshima, Moscow launched another airstrike on the Ukrainian capital. Loud explosions thundered through kyiv in the early hours of the morning, marking the ninth time this month that Russian airstrikes have targeted the city after weeks of relative calm.

G-7 leaders and guests from several other countries are also expected to discuss China’s military upgrades, fearing that China could try to seize Taiwan by force, sparking a wider conflict. China claims the self-governing island as its own and regularly sends warships and warplanes nearby.
Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister arrived in Japan early on Thursday and visited the JS Izumo, a ship that can carry helicopters and fighter jets that can take off and land vertically.
During their bilateral meeting on Thursday, Sunak and Kishida are expected to announce a series of new agreements on issues including trade, defense and investment, technology and climate change, Sunak’s office said.
A number of other countries have also been invited to participate in the G-7 Summit. The G-7 hopes to strengthen its members’ ties with countries other than the world’s wealthiest industrialized nations, while building support for efforts such as isolating Russia.
Leaders from Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia and South Korea were among those invited to attend. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to join via video link.
