After India's disappointing loss to South Africa in the first Test at the Centurion Stadium, captain Rohit Sharma remained steadfast in his support for the team's batsmen, emphasizing the need to avoid knee-jerk reactions to a performance alone. Acknowledging the team's poor performances, Rohit appealed to cricket fans not to forget the wins in England and Australia, reminding them of the resilience shown by these same players during recent overseas tours.

India The batting unit failed as they scored 245 and 131 runs in the match, losing by 32 runs in the innings. KL Rahul's brilliant century and Virat Kohli's eloquent 76 were the only bright spots in a poor performance. Youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer struggled to make a significant impact during their maiden Test tour to South Africa.

He stressed that in such conditions there is a fine line between showing will and maintaining discipline, warning against reckless shooting. “We can’t just go out and wave a stick. As batting concerns persist, Rohit Sharma also admitted his disappointment in the bowling department with only Jasprit Bumrah making a significant impact.
