Becoming the host of the Asian Cup, how Indonesia avoids the Hell group

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Become a host Asian Cup 2023 can avoid Indonesian national team from the group of hell in the inter-country event at the regional level.

Having not moved at the start of the registration period to host the 2023 Asian Cup after China withdrew, PSSI then took the decision to submit a proposal as a candidate to host the Asian Cup.

The support and blessing of the government made PSSI confident to host 23 participating countries in the Asian Cup. Additionally, Indonesia will compete with other countries that have also volunteered to host, such as Qatar, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

PSSI’s decision to try the hosting opportunity may save Indonesia from the group from hell.

The Indonesian national team is currently the team with the lowest FIFA ranking compared to other Asian Cup competitors. Thus the Red and White team will be in Pot 4.

If you’re in pot 4, Indonesia is sure to encounter one of the leading countries in pot 1, as well as fillers for pots 2 and 3.

Meanwhile, if they manage to become the hosts, Indonesia will occupy Pot 1 along with five other countries. This distances Indonesia from other pot 1 countries such as Iran, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Qatar.

On the other hand, Indonesia can meet pot 4 countries, such as India, Tajikistan, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Although the strength of these countries cannot be underestimated, the chance of collecting points is higher than Indonesia, having to join the ranks of pot 1 countries.

Serious efforts on the pitch have yet to be shown because if Indonesia becomes the host, Indonesia cannot avoid other countries in pots two and three like UAE, Iraq, Oman, China, Uzbekistan, Jordan or Palestine.
