Badminton News: Malaysian badminton players cruised to an easy 5-0 victory over Kazakhstan in their second Group B match at the 2023 Asian Mixed Team Championships on Wednesday (February 15th).
Women’s singles player Wong Ling Ching, making her Asian Mixed Team Championships 2023 debut, won in consecutive matches 21-6 21-13 over Aisha Zhumabek to give the team their first point at the Dubai Exhibition Center , United Arab Emirates.
In men’s singles, Leong Jun Hao, also making his first appearance at the tournament, defeated Dimitry Panarin 21-12, 21-16.
Then, women’s doubles duo Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee edged Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva-Kamila Smagulova 21-7 21-7 to give the team the deciding third point and seal the win.
Men’s doubles duo Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik easily beat Khaitmurat Kulmatov-Artur Niyazov in back-to-back matches 21-5 21-17.
In the mixed doubles sector, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei completed Team Malaysia’s victory with a 21-9, 21-10 victory over Kazakh pair, Makhsut Tadzhibullaev/Aisha.
Team Malaysia will then face India on Thursday night (16/2) in their final group game to determine who will finish top of the group.
The 2023 Asian Mixed Team Championships is also a qualifying event for the 2023 Sudirman Cup where the four semi-finalists will automatically qualify directly for the world’s most prestigious team championship next May in Suzhou, China.
