Badminton News: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has announced cash incentives to Indian badminton players Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu, R. Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty for their outstanding performances at Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu will receive Rs. 20 Lakh or around 400 million rupees, while the men’s doubles combination of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty received Rs. 25 Lakh or around 500 million rupees to win a gold medal.

Arguably, Indian badminton came in with the best performances in the CWG winning three gold, one silver and two medals while Indian men’s badminton had three medals to show for in both editions of the world championships.

“Our badminton players have consistently won victories for the country and this cash prize is a small attempt to recognize their outstanding achievements over the past two years,” BAI President Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a statement. .

The 10-member mixed team, which wins the silver medal in Birmingham, will earn a total of Rs. 30 lakhs around Rs. 600 million, for their efforts, while eight support staff earn Rs. 1.5 lakhs each (25 million rupees).

Apart from the gold medalists, the women’s doubles combination of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will win Rs 7.5 lakh or around Rs 150 million for their first bronze medal.

Former world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth will also receive Rs. 5 lakh or around Rs. 100 million for the men’s singles bronze in Birmingham along with Rs. 10 lakh or around Rs. 2021 BWF World Championships in Huelva, Spain.

Lakshya Sen will add Rs 5 lakh (100 million rupees) for winning bronze in men’s singles in 2021 while Shetty and Satwik will earn another Rs 7.5 lakh (150 million rupees) to become the first Indian men’s doubles pair to winning bronze at the world championship in Tokyo last month.
