Badminton News: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced on Friday (9/6) the squad for the upcoming Asian Junior Championships to be held in the Indonesian province of Yogyakarta, with standout players Tara Shah and Ayush Shetty at the head of the team.
The Asian Junior Continental Championships will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from July 7-16.
Tara Shah has captured attention for her skill and determination in the women’s singles, currently ranked seventh in the BWF rankings. Ayush Shetty brings his experience to the men’s singles category, ranked 20th in the world and second in the BAI rankings.
Lakshya Sharma and Rakshitha Sree S won first place in Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles at the Trial Tournament.
Nicholas Nathan Raj and Tushar Suveer secured first place in the men’s doubles, while Radhika Sharma and Tanvi Sharma dominated the women’s doubles while Samarveer and Radhika Sharma secured their spot in the mixed doubles.
This talented team will represent India in the prestigious tournament, aiming for success in their respective categories.
The team was made up of athletes who performed superbly in the final selection trials held at Karnal Singh Railway Stadium from June 4-7.
These players will represent India in various categories including men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and also mixed doubles which can be a foothold for players towards the junior world championships who will be held in Spokane, Washington, USA. September 24 to October 8.
