The former commander of the Russian army, General Alexei Maslow, has died “suddenly” at the age of 70, according to Russian media. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS, citing the engineering and defense company Uralvagonzavod. “The management of the Uralvagonzavod concern is very sorry to announce that today at 08:20 in the military hospital NN Burdenko, there has been a death. Alexey Fedorovich Maslov died suddenly at the age of 70,” TASS quoted the statement as saying.
The cause of death is unclear. It is also not known why Maslow was admitted to the hospital. Maslow served in various positions up to Commander in Chief of the Russian Army. For some time he was the Supreme Military Envoy of the Russian Federation to NATO and was awarded many orders and medals. Recently, according to the company, he worked for Uralvagonzavod.
