Jakarta: Indonesia is aiming to become champions when it hosts the inaugural Asian Roundnet Federation (ARF) Cup 2023 at People’s Wrestling Monument East Square, Denpasar, Bali from September 21-24. This was conveyed by Denny Rahmat Ramdani as the manager of the Indonesian national roundnet team.

The ARF Cup, which is holding its first edition in Bali, will be contested in three categories of competition, namely men’s team, women’s team and mixed team. Indonesia itself will field five teams in the men’s class and three teams in the mixed class with a total of 15 players.

Including Indonesia, the participating countries that have confirmed their participation in the 2023 ARF Cup are Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan and Australia. Meanwhile, other countries like India, Jordan, Korea, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are still awaiting confirmation.

Denny Rahmat Ramdani said the Indonesian national team is quite optimistic about pursuing the goal of becoming champions because they have prepared well. However, he also believes that this hope is not easy to obtain, as other countries will not give up when they compete.

“We are fully prepared to compete, although the competition is of course very tight and tough, especially from Taiwan and the Philippines who have been developing for quite a long time,” Denny said in a written statement on Sunday (3 /9/2023). ).

The majority of the 15 roundnet athletes who will compete later are from Bandung in West Java. In detail, 12 male athletes and 3 female athletes. According to Ketum PB Portion Genta Fajar Heriawan, this is because the round net sport is developing quite rapidly in the city of Bandung.

“Bandung is the center and forerunner of the development of this sport, so it is only natural that the majority of athletes come from the city of Bandung,” said Genta who also hopes that net sports can develop across the country.

Roundnet is a sports game that combines elements of volleyball, badminton and table tennis. The way to play is by kicking the ball into the net like a trampoline and then bouncing in a direction that makes it difficult for the opponent.

A roundnet team is made up of two players. Later, they will compete to collect 21 points in each round consisting of three sets (including rubber games if necessary).
