Badminton News: Incomplete healing process has made Indonesia's top women's doubles, Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti decide to withdraw from the prestigious season-opening tournament, the Malaysia Open World Tour Super 1000 next week and the India Open World Tour Super 750 the following week.
The decision to withdraw from the first two tournaments was made given that currently Apri is not 100% fit due to the calf injury he suffered last November during the Hylo final Open 2023.
A few weeks later, Apri appeared in the BWF World Tour Finals 2023 year-end tournament in November. However, Apriyani's movement still wasn't optimal, meaning she and Siti Fadia had to stop in the group stage.
“After discussing with the head of Binpres and the PBSI team of doctors, in this case Professor Nicolaas (C. Budhiparama), it was indeed better to give Apriyani a longer period of rest while she was recovering from his calf injury,” said the trainer who is familiarly called Didi, via press release PP PBSI Public Relations, Friday (5/1) evening WIB.
Not only the Malaysian Open, Apriyani/Fadia were also withdrawn from the 2024 Indian Open in New Delhi and are expected to make a comeback at the Indonesia Masters World Tour Super 500 home tournament in Istora Senayan Jakarta .
“So I have decided to withdraw Apri/Fadia's participation in the 2024 Malaysia and India Open next week,” Didi added.
Apriyani/Fadia are currently ranked 7th in the world and are the leading representatives qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Apart from Apriyani/Fadia, the women's doubles also trying to qualify for the prestigious quadrennial championship are Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi who are currently ranked 18th in the world.
A country can send a maximum of two pairs of double sector if both are in the top eight of the Race to Paris 2024 rankings.
