New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) As India enters the 5G era, Apple will enable 5G in next week’s iOS 16 Beta software program for select iPhone users in the country, the tech giant said.
Apple Airtel and Jio customers participating in the iOS 16 Beta software program will be able to try 5G before it becomes publicly available in December, according to Apple.
The beta program allows users to try out pre-release software and experience the latest features before the software is publicly available.
Last month, Apple said it was working with “carrier partners in India to provide iPhone users with the best 5G experience as soon as network validation and quality and performance testing are completed”.
“5G will be enabled via a software update and will begin rolling out to iPhone users in December,” the company said in a statement.
With the beta program, users can also provide quality and usability feedback to Apple, which helps Apple identify problems, fix them, and further improve Apple software.
Users will need to enroll their iPhone in Apple’s Beta software program to access the latest public betas, as well as future updates, including the 5G beta that will be available to Airtel and Jio subscribers starting next week. .
As India rolls out 5G gradually starting with major metropolitan cities, smartphone players are scrambling to make 5G available on their devices.
Those with iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE (3rd generation) models will receive the upcoming 5G software update.
Apple conducts extensive testing with carrier partners to ensure a great experience for iPhone users.
iPhone gives users super-fast uploads and downloads, better streaming, and real-time connectivity with 5G to help them stay connected, share, and enjoy content.
5G support on iPhone now extends to more than 250 carrier partners in more than 70 markets worldwide, with extended support for standalone networks.
Prioritizing software upgrades will enable early adoption of 5G in India.
