Solapur, December 17, 2022: Ankita Raina stumbled in the singles semi-final but teamed up with local girl Prathana Thumbar to win the doubles title at $25,000 Balaji Amines Solapur Women’s Open organized by Solapur District Lawn Tennis Association ( SDLTA) MSLTA sponsored by ITF, AITA sponsored by Balaji Amines and he played at MSLTA Tennis School at Division Sports Complex, Solapur.
In the singles semifinal, Finland’s third seed Anastasia Kulikova crushed the hopes of top seed Ankita Raina 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in two hours and 26 minutes. Kulikova, the eighth seed, will face Indonesia’s Prisca Madeline Nugroho, who also took over two hours and 20 minutes to stop Russia’s Daria Kudachova 1-6 6-4 7-5.
In the doubles final held in the afternoon, Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thumbar of Barchi in Solapur district needed less than an hour to beat second seeds Prisca Madeleine Nugroho and Russia’s Ekaterina Yashina 6-1, 6-2.
