JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan inaugurated Gapura Little India on Jalan Raya Air, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, Monday (10/10/2022).
The gate is known to stand on two sides of the pavement of Jalan Raya Air, where a number of people of Indian origin live.
“Asking for the grace of Almighty God, today, Monday, October 10, 2022, Gapura Little India is officially open,” Anies said in his remarks on Monday.

He hoped that the existence of the gate could become a representation of various cultures in Jakarta.
Not only that, according to Anies, residents who want to experience the atmosphere of Barata country can visit Gapura Little India.
The former Minister of Education and Culture felt that the inauguration was not only carried out for ceremonial purposes.
“However, it marks a sense of unity, of diversity, that exists in this city,” Anies said.
“I hope this will later become one of the goals for the interaction of residents, schoolchildren, tourists and various elements of society coming here to have new experiences,” he continued.
This new experience, Anies continued, should foster an attitude of caring among people.

Based on Kompas.com monitoring, there is a “Welcome to Little India” sign installed in the middle of the gate.
The gate is also colored with various bright colors typical of India, such as purple, yellow, red and others.
Not only that, there are two swans and two elephants depicted on the door.
